While we’re busy slaving away in a hot office, working on our next round of mags, some lucky bastards have been out shredding the glaciers this summer. So we thought it might be a good idea to check in with Daniel Loosli, to hear what he had to say about the situation in Zermatt…
“I decided pretty spontaneously to head there. The past few years I’ve spent more time in Saas-Fee, but Zermatt is a great village, and for sure the Matterhorn is always worth checking out. ( yep, still there )
One of the best things is that you can go up the mountain in two stages. So I recommend bringing your breakfast with you to the Glacier Express gondola. That way, you have more sleep… and more sleep equals more time to party the night before.
The park has a great rail garden at almost 3800 meters. You’ll find everything there: jumps, rails, quarters, hips, waves, sunburnt tourists and much more. Maybe you can’t get enough air for a triple, but I think that’s not the point for most of us.
The thing that makes Zermatt special right now is the shape crew. All of them are great riders with a lot of passion, so after one week you always find something new.
I’ll definitely be back soon…”
If you’re also stuck in an office, we don’t recommend you checking out Daniel’s impressions in the gallery below…
